DEMO People’s Choice Winner Ube Announces Kickstarter campaign
Once again, the DEMO Conference platform is effectively bringing innovation to our economy. The recent People’s Choice winner at DEMO Fall 2012 - Ube (pronounced “yoo-bee”) – has an effective campaign running on Kickstarter. They are tracking to raise between $250 and $500K on the popular crowd sourcing platform.
Ube launched their IP based home control platform at DEMO in October of 2012 and was quickly approached by more than 30 venture and angel funding firms. After closing their seed round of $300k, Ube decided to bring their offering to Kickstarter to raise the next round of capital to get to production. “Crowd funding is an amazing tool for startups. It offers validation of the product, which venture capitalists want to see, and it offers the needed capital infusion to keep the business moving forward” said Utz Baldwin, Ube’s CEO and co-founder.
Ube is offering an advanced WiFi connected smart light dimmer on Kickstarter. It allows users to control their lights from home or while away using their smart phones. It has some interesting features like the ability to mimic home activity while you are away for security purposes or to report back to the user how much electricity they are using to light each room.
We at DEMO like this idea and suggest you give it a look on Kickstarter here: http://kck.st/YjegPU
